😤 FATIGUE

Push Through Exhaustion

OBJECTIVE: to overcome the fear of fatigue in matches

Competition is tiring, it's to be expected. Fearing fatigue can be fatal. You need to believe in your training and in your never quit attitude before and during competition.

You need confidence in your conditioning. Knowing you are psychologically prepared to deal with fatigue, gives you this confidence. When you search your memory bank, you must be able to easily recall overcoming fatigue and succeeding. Think about overtimes, double overtimes, 3rd periods, & grueling practices.

💪Exercise 1: Past Experiences Overcoming Fatigue

Write down past competitions/experiences where you were able to push through fatigue in the different positions of the sport.

Neutral

[ Times you pushed through fatigue in neutral position ]

Example: "Overtime vs. Johnson at Regionals - was exhausted but kept taking shots and got the takedown in double OT"

⬆️Top

[ Times you pushed through fatigue on top ]

Example: "Riding out tough opponent in 3rd period when my arms were burning - stayed tight and got riding time point"

⬇️Bottom

[ Times you pushed through fatigue on bottom ]

Example: "Escaped from bottom in 3rd even though legs felt like jelly - refused to quit"

💡

YOU'VE DONE IT BEFORE, YOU'LL DO IT AGAIN!

Every time you've pushed through fatigue before creates a powerful mental reference point. When the 3rd period gets tough, when overtime starts, when your opponent tries to break you with pace—you can draw on these past experiences. You've been tired before. You've pushed through before. You'll do it again. Your conditioning is proven. Your mental toughness is tested. Trust your training and refuse to let fatigue beat you!
