Smart Energy Management

OBJECTIVE: Develop a plan to relax at tournaments and matches in order to conserve energy

It is very important to learn to relax when you are not competing. There is no reason to waste energy standing when you could be sitting. There is no reason to waste energy talking when you could be resting. There is no reason to waste energy when you could be conserving it for the match.

When you are on the mat during the match, your muscles are in a constant state of tension. Being able to relax your body and mind between periods and matches will allow you to recover more quickly and perform at your best.

Every moment you spend tense, standing, or anxious is energy you're taking away from your performance on the mat. Practice relaxation techniques regularly so they become automatic during competition.
